What is BHT?
The Peirce Behavioral Health Team (BHT) is a team within the school counseling department that meets weekly to review referrals and make recommendations for Tier 2 and 3 interventions. All students receive Tier 1 social emotional learning in the classroom. BHT supports students whose social-emotional development and/or behavior interfere with their school performance. These are school based interventions that are short-term and solution-focused. BHT does not provide diagnosis or treatment, and is not intended to be long-term therapy for students. Interventions are determined by the BHT and provided based on the availability of BHT staff. If there is a behavior incident that requires restorative disciplinary action, please contact the Restorative Practices Coach - Mr. Jackson. When is a referral made to the BHT?
