Hello Peirce students and parents! My name is Anne Park and this 2023-2024 school year will be my 14th year at Peirce School and I am very excited for this school year! I look forward to providing our counseling services to help you and your child have a successful school year.
My educational background includes a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Mathematics from DePaul University. My professional experience includes teaching math at LaSalle Language Academy, counseling intern at Budlong Elementary and Niles West High School, and as a case manager at Peirce. I decided to begin my journey into the school counseling profession in 2008 in order to help students become more able learners. As a former math teacher I know what it is like to be faced with the pressures of raising students' test scores, the rigid teaching schedules, the large classroom sizes, and always wishing to have just 5 more minutes to ask students how they are doing. As the school counselor my goal is to support the students, parents, and staff by providing services to the students in the 5 areas of social and emotional learning: self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
I am first generation, Korean-American born in Chicago. I grew up in Park Ridge and attended Roosevelt Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and Maine South High School. Soon after graduating high school I moved back to Chicago and have lived in many different neighborhoods across the city. I love Chicago's diversity of people, foods, cultures, and neighborhoods, but can't stand the winters! My family lives in California and I hope to one day move out there to be able to spend more time with them. I have 2 kids, my son is in 1st grade and my daughter is in 4th grade. On our free time together we like to go swimming, jump on our trampoline, ride our bikes, play chess, listen to music, and travel to California any chance we get!
